Message from the President
Jordon N. Rosen, CPA, MST, AEP®
Belfint, Lyons & Shuman, PA
Wilmington, Delaware
Greetings from NAEPC. This is how I start my presentations to local
councils so I thought it was appropriate to greet you this way as I
begin my term as president. It is truly an honor to have been selected
to lead the almost 260 local councils and 29,000 individual members that
make up NAEPC and I look forward to the upcoming year.
The strength of our organization has always been our people. We
continue to have a strong board, administrative and committee structure,
made up of dedicated individuals who give countless hours of their time
to provide the local councils and their members with quality programs,
webinars, benefits, publications, and, of course, our signature event, the
Annual Estate Planning Conference. If you have not had the opportunity
to participate in all of these, please take a moment to check them out
on the NAEPC web site at www.NAEPC.org.
Over the next year I hope to advance several initiatives. The first
is the multi-disciplinary teamwork concept, which is at the core of our
values, both at the national level and at the local council level. I am
happy to have Mark Alton at the helm of this endeavor and if you
were at the 51st Annual Estate Planning Conference in San Antonio last
month, you noticed that it was the common theme of all presentations. We
have even added a new tab on our web site, "Guide to Teaming" which we
hope to populate with more valuable articles and information in the very
near future.
The second initiative will be to bring those professionals in the
philanthropy and planned giving area into the AEP® fold. Through the
leadership of past president Joanna Averett, it is my hope that this
becomes a reality in 2015.
My third initiative is to promote more diversity within the various
estate planning professional groups that make up NAEPC. I see this as a
long-term endeavor with the goal of a more diverse representation of
professional estate planners at the local council and national level.
You will be hearing more about this during the upcoming year.
Let me close by wishing you and your families and friends a joyous
holiday season and a healthy and prosperous 2015! |

Who Are We?
by Sidney Kess, CPA, JD, LL.M., AEP® (Distinguished) |
One of the valuable parts of being associated with NAEPC is
the unique opportunity to meet with some of the leading
professionals in the estate planning area who bring a unique
perspective to the field of estate planning. Not only are you
joining together with attorneys and CPAs, but you are meeting
the leading trust officers, financial planners, investment
advisors, etc. In addition to their technical competence, they
are some of the finest people I have had the opportunity to meet
in my career. Every program that you attend is an exceptional
experience. I treasure the time that I devote to NAEPC
functions. |

The Council Corner:
News Just for the Estate Planning Council
The Council Relations Committee wishes to thank the dedicated work of Paul
Pantano who co-chaired the committee these last two years. We are pleased to
welcome a current committee member, Kit MacNee from Southern California, as the
co-chairperson to work with Paul Viren during 2015.
We are excited to announce the Walter Lee Davis, Jr. and Leonard H. Neiman
Council of Excellence Award to be presented next November at the 52nd
Annual Conference. Each of the 260 local councils are encouraged to apply for
the recognition and share your success and experiences with all of us! See
more information and the application.
If you feel a nudge to volunteer some of your time to help the Council
Relations Committee, we welcome your call. Please contact the national office or
Paul Viren at
paul@virenandassociates.com if you want to learn more about serving as a
committee member.
Finally, we have had an amazing year as a Council Relations Committee with a
record number of councils now affiliated with NAEPC. The reason for this success
is simple – we provide the membership of each council a wealth of resources and
educational offerings to their practice. Please check out the
www.NAEPC.org website for all that we offer.
